Let us mine the protected rock covering facilities.

So, as I have been hollowing out the world, I have been becoming more and more bewildered by the sheer amount of unnecessary protected rock in the world.

There's no need for it, it serves no purpose, and it covers up all the awesome artwork the art team have done on the facilities.

You get to see less than a quarter of the floating monolith, you don't get to see the entire Excalibur or Freight Elevator, and the protected limestone stretching all the way to the top and bottom of the map is just silly.

It's not like the rock is holding the facilities, etc., in place; there's no physics in the world. It actually makes everything it smothers look far less cool than it would otherwise.
