Wall protrusion sends me to the nether realm

PC, Solo, Local Save. When mining walls with standard lens in, I experienced wall clipping when using the hover pack to approach a single block protrusion from the natural wall, this lead me to falling out of my world. The protrusion was 5 or so blocks up the wall, and the ceiling was 7 blocks above it. Jumping on the block caused no issue, only activating the hover pack then walking on it clipped me through the wall nearest it. It seems like the game tried to place me down on the nearest ground after my feet collided with floor, and the closest ground was the top of a closed wall.
